The World Espresso Championship (WEC) is a high stakes event that brings together the world's top coffee professionals to compete for the title.
We fulfil the missing compulsory round from WBC, all competitors use the same roasted green coffee, water filtration and equipment, in a head to head competition format which is designed to promote the best tasting Espresso, and to celebrate the Barista who prepared it.
Only national champions (Espresso or Barista) are eligible to participate in the competition, making it an exclusive and highly anticipated event.
The mission for the WEC is to create a world wide community that evolves espresso (based) beverages.
But this is really just the beginning, there is so much more we can do with this platform, and we need your support to make better coffee be transparent.
WEC’22
The first World Espresso Championship was held in 2022 at Code Black Coffee HQ in Melbourne, Australia.

The second World Espresso Championship was held in 2023 at 360 Athens in collaboration with Wise Cup Coffee in Athens, Greece.

The third World Espresso Championship was held in 2024 at Momos Coffee HQ in Busan, South Korea.

WEC’25
The 4th World Espresso Championship will be held one day after WBC on the 22nd of October at Bobino Milano, Italy.
Registration for the competition is open for National Champions. The winner will take home €3000 and earns the title of 2025 World Espresso Champion.
Preliminary rounds will take place earlier in the day (12pm to 5pm, open to competitors and their supporting team).
The public event starts at 7pm which will be the unofficial HOST Milano after party where spectators will be able to witness the top 8 battle to see who is the ultimate champion.
The winners final recipe, including the products used: Water Filtration, Grinder, Machine, Barista Tools, Green Coffee Beans, Roast Profile, Espresso Recipe, Milk, etc etc, will be celebrated and made available to the public.
Our goal is to ensure that after the competition, anyone and everyone can access the ingredients and equipment to make the 2025 World Espresso Championship coffees for themselves in their Roastery, Cafe, or even at home!

Open for anyone. Previous experience preferred but not required.
